Elegant Earrings from Kambala Wood

A very special piece of jewelry, with the beautiful waters of the Iroko/kambala wood in gold/brown resembling leopard patterns in the movement 
of the earring. 

Botanical name: Chlorophora excelsa. Family: Moreaceae. 

The tropical species of Iroko thrives throughout Tropical Africa, from the Ivory Coast to Angola, 
Kenya and East Africa to the Congo and Benin. The sapwood is almost white to pale yellow. 
The heart is golden-orange to brown in color. The rings are clearly visible in cross-sections. 
Large amounts of calcium carbonate are often present which create darker zones in the wood, 
while the combination with the already existing yellow zones of the sapwood,
give a very attractive appearance. It is also used as a decorative veneer and in wall coverings.
